We just got back from the Washington State Horse Park, where we had our first filming for the new Akhal-Teke HorseFlicks video. We had 10 horses show up with quite a few more friends along. We got some great video in the arena (along with some with almost all the horses being ridden at once), a bunch on the trails and over obstacles and some at the water hazard. Jon (the filmmaker) pronounced it "Very good!". He was pleased with the shoot and is looking forward to the next two shoots, in Minnesota and Kentucky. Smiles all around! Our participants were, from left to right: Erin Heatherstone and Kuwwat, Angela Davenport and Arzuw, Dani Scott and Andymn, Monica Bretherton and Magdan, Sofie Wohllaib and Meshhurlyk, Catrina Quantrell and Mazaly, Wendy Ford and Alpowa, Cathy Leddy and Astrachan and Shannon Mayfield and Asil Tumay.
We’ll see you October 4th at the ATAA Conference and October 12th at the Kentucky Horse Park for our two other filmings!

Friday August 9th 9:30 PM Grand Prix Dressage 10:00 PM Conscious Horse – Conscious Rider 10:30 PM The Akhal-Teke – The Heavenly Horse Saturday August 10th 12:30 AM Grand Prix Dressage 1:00 AM Conscious Horse – Conscious Rider 1:30 AM The Akhal-Teke – The Heavenly Horse Hi everyone,
Updates: Can everyone send in their $30 for photos to Amrita Ibold at 2097 W. Valley Rd, Friday Harbor, WA 98296 before the filming? We have to prepay the entire amount. For those of you that are puzzled, we are buying still shots from all three film locations and have a flat fee for that. Everyone that chips in will get whatever shots of them there are. (clear as mud?) We have some extra riders coming along, so there will be the possibility of having all horses under saddle at once. That is totally up to the owners and riders though. Jon wants to start reasonably early, while the horses are fresh. If you can’t be there until sometime Saturday morning, please email me privately and tell me when you’ll be there. Then we can work that into the schedule. We will sit down with Jon on Friday night and come up with a tentative schedule for Saturday morning. Once filming the horses is done, he’d like to do interviews with people. We don’t know exactly how that will work, but I’m sure everyone will get to have their moment of fame, although Jon gets to decide who ends up on the cutting room floor. Don’t stress it! Then, very importantly, the PARTY. Catrina is bringing pulled pork and buns and I’m bringing hamburgers and hotdogs and buns. Does anyone have a nice portable grill? Everyone else, please bring sides, desserts and drinks. I have let the WSHP know how many stalls we need. Be prepared to pay for them (if you haven’t already) when you arrive. If you have reserved your stall online (I know at least one person has) let me know so I don’t give them incorrect numbers. This is going to be SO MUCH FUN! If you need more info, email me or call me at 425-870-9789. Also, if you see that I’ve missed someone in the email, please send it on to them. Cathy Just in case I’ve missed ANYONE that is interested in the upcoming HorseFlicks filming.
1. The contract with HorseFlicks is signed and the deposit is sent. 2. There are 3 locations and dates: August 10th, Pacific NW, October 4th, Minnesota, October 12th or 13th, Kentucky Horse Park. If you are thinking of coming, I MUST know now. We have to arrange for stalls, RV spots, etc. You will NOT be able to come to the KHP at the last minute, although both the Pacific NW and Minnesota shoots will be a bit more flexible. 3. We’ve gotten a good response, but could certainly use more horses and helpers at both the Pacific NW and Minnesota shoots. The KHP is almost full. This is going to be awesome! More info on the ATAA website and Facebook page or email me privately at [email protected] or Tish at [email protected] or Terri at [email protected] Cathy, Tish and Terri More news – we have the option to buy still photos from the shoots. There is a flat fee for this and Jon will cut us a deal for $750 for all three sites . This is what the contract says:
‘) Photographic Services - During the course of a shoot, one of the professional team captures digital photos of the event which we use within the program, to capture a moment in time, and other interesting, compelling photos. It is not unusual to come away with hundreds of photos from which we select several to include within the program. We offer a flat rate price on the finished photos taken at the location shoot. Because the end number of finished photos is hard to project, we offer a flat rate cost for this service. Price includes use of the Copyrighted images for print, web and other promotional media as long as photo credits are provided. Bulk photographic images from the production shoot are provided on CD, or a memory stick provided by Client for transport, depending on the end number of photos provided to Client.’ We did not budget for this, but it would be a great opportunity to get lots of wonderful still photos of your horses in action. If this is of interest to you, we will need to raise a bit more money. I would think with the number of people attending, if everyone put in $30, we’d cover it. So far, everyone that has contacted me has said ‘YES’ to the extra $30 for still photos. Please let me know if you are interested. Also, if you haven’t confirmed your stall (s) yet, please do so asap. There is plenty of room, but the WSHP needs to know how many to get ready. If you’d like more information or think you might like to participate (or donate), please contact Cathy Leddy at [email protected], Tish Saare at [email protected] or Terri Fender at [email protected] Thank you, Cathy, Tish and Terri Here’s an update on where we are with the HorseFlicks ‘Rare Breeds’ series, featuring the Akhal-Teke breed.
HORSES – EAST COAST- As the last two possible sites didn’t work out, here is ONE LAST OPTION. We have been offered the chance to film at the Kentucky Horse Park on a ‘Breed Weekend’. I’ve sent an email to everyone that has mentioned they might be interested, but please share this with anyone else that I might have missed. WEST COAST- We’re going to be nailing down the date and place in the next few days. We’ve gotten a good response, but the more the merrier! MID WEST- We’re gotten a few more horses that will come to the Conference for filming, so that is looking good. MONEY- yes, money. We’ve had a great outpouring of support and have had over $3050 pledged so far, but that is a long way from $5800. Please, any amount will help! If you’re not sure what kind of production HorseFlicks can do, email me and I’ll send you a copy of the last one that was done, so you can see for yourself. The Akhal-Teke Horseflicks episode is one of their most popular and is still being played on National TV, 5 years after it was made, according to Jon Mays, the film director. This one could be even better. If you can pledge an amount, please contact me, Cathy Leddy at [email protected] or Terri Fender at [email protected] TIME TO SEND CHECKS- And on that note, everyone that has pledged money, please send it to the ATAA Treasurer, Amrita Ibold, 2097 W. Valley Road, Friday Harbor, WA 98250. Make sure you mark what the check is for. Even if you can only do $20, those small amounts add up! So please, let us know what you can do. Thank you to everyone! Cathy, Tish and Terri Hi Everyone- The Akhal-Teke TV Episode airs again on HRTV, carried on Dish Network (Channel 404) as well as Verizon Fios, AT&T U-Verse, Cox Cable, Comcast and other major networks throughout the U.S., and always carried in real time on HRTV.com so you can see it globally to anyone with a high speed Internet connection.
