June 13th, Great weekend for Ophelia Kkan (Durkkhal X Otez's Windstar (Arab)) and Amber Erickson. First place and High point at the ApDRA 25 mile competitive trail ride this weekend! We also led the novice group out for 12 miles and she was a great leader. It was super hot and humid, almost 90 degree's, and she fantastic recoveries both days. The August edition of 'Endurance News', the magazine of the AERC (American Endurance Rides Conference) features a page long article about the Akhal-Teke entitled "Meet the Breeds- Akhal-Teke", by Cathy Leddy. The article was suggested by Tim Floyd, who also acted as an editor and the original article included interviews with ATAA Endurance riders, Jas Shearer-McMahon and Connie Rawski. As printed, those weren't included, but perhaps they will be in the online 'Extra' that the AERC puts out.

2014 Endurance Champions:
2014 was a rather quiet year for Endurance Awards - while there were more Teke and Teke crosses competing than in previous years, either the owners were not members or the horses were not ATAA registered. There were actually 15 Teke and Teke crosses competing last year that the AERC (American Endurance Ride Conference, the national Endurance organization) sent us from their records. This only takes into account the horses that the owners list as Akhal-Teke or Akhal-Teke crosses, there are several competing that are listed as Arab x that are not on this list.
2015 should have more competition for these awards; we have several new members that have been actively competing their Tekes and Teke crosses. The AERC Endurance Awards are given out at the AERC National Conference, which is attended by hundreds of people. They are also mentioned in the AERC Yearbook, which is sent out to all AERC members.
