Amrita Ibold and Jenny Rice of Sweet Water Farm Akhal-Teke took 4 pure bred Akhal-Teke horses and a 12 hand pony to school cross country at Northwest Equestrian center.
The cremello gelding was being ridden by Sonja, who is new to eventing and had unlo caught the bug last fall at the Whidbey Island schooling show, Marina rode the pony, she has been riding for 8 month, and rides the Akhal-Teke horses at SWF, but for this level and her experience the pony is a better match for now...although not for long...she has what it takes and is a dedicated rider! Jenny rode Dagjeir, and they did some impressive Prelim and Intermediate lines through the water complex, Amrita rode home bred Paktaly and the gelding Paelka. All horses did really well and we are super excited for the oncoming season! Here is a video of Jenny and Dagjeir:http://youtu.be/kI4o4lXgkAQ

JBK Gulkusi unexpectedly (I thought she still had at least a month to go) presented Oasis Akhal-Tekes with our only purebred foal of the year, a huge buckskin filly by Miril [Maruk X Dar Khanum] yesterday afternoon about 5:00. According to the vet, the baby showed signs of being premature but he also said, if that was the case, it was a good thing since, if she had been any bigger, there could have been a real problem with the birth. He was amazed at her size and length of leg and said she looks like a three week old foal. This morning, Mama & baby are doing fine! Report from Latisha Saare, Look at what the Easter Bunny brought us! Kamiah's baby (Arin x Kamiah) was born at 2 am this morning (Easter morning). She is a little filly and is supper cute. The birth went well and she is healthy. Kamiah is doing just fine and is a good mom. Best Easter present I have ever had! " Catrina Mettam competed at Jump for Joy at the Clark County Event Center in Ridgefield, WA Event date: March 25, 2012 on her part-bred Akhal-Teke mare Mazaly bred by Cascade Gold Akhal-Tekes. This was Mazaly's first competition. Here is a report from Catrina:"Mazaly was great! We did 10 rounds and all 10 clean. We started the day at 12" and went up to 2'3". She ribboned in 9 of the classes and took home one coveted 1st place!!!! In the all around at 2'. I backed her at 8am and we did not finish until 3. I was exhausted but I think Maizie could have gone another 10 rounds...She is a Teke after all. We had to be lead into the arena every time, but she meet a lot of people and I was asked by about 8 different people what her breed was and saw many others talking trying to figure it out. So she did some really good PR for the breed!!!!! Have some things to work on for sure, in 2 weeks I am taking her to an ODS league show and then at the end of the month I think we are heading to another jumper show."
