From Kirsten Anderson: I just feel lucky I'm able to lease her! We went to a hunter/jumper, dressage shooling show called Three Ring Circus at Carriage House Farm in Hugo, Minnesota. Hoanna was doing hunter. I've attached a picture, that's me riding her. I didn't place with her but her trainer/my instructor did. She was in the low 2' Hunter division and placed 2nd out of 30 horses in both her classes with Staci Gust, her trainer/my instuctor. Asil Tumay ("Tommy") earned Reserve High Point honors at the Hardin Memorial Horse show this weekend in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. Tommy garnered well over a dozen ribbons in various classes, including a lovely large reserve high point ribbon and a nice heavy glass mug as an award. He competed against a variety of different horse breeds in both english and western events. Tommy is pictured with his owner/rider Shannon Mayfield and ring stewards of the Pioneer Posse rodeo court.
Endurance News (magazine of the AERC) had a full page “Breed Awards” page and we’re number one on it (thanks to alphabetizing!)
http://www.aerc.org/Breed_Awards.aspx The ATAA has an extensive awards program this year combined with the "FOTATA" awards. Sweet Water Farm Akhal-Teke took 3 purebred Tekes and a pony to school cross country at the Whidbey Island Pony Club course.
It was Penta's first time out on an "official" course, and he is a natural, doesn't care about water nor ditches. Kegas and Paktaly did great and our student who has not even been riding for a year did fabulous on the pony..some day she'll be campaigning a Teke! By Cathy Leddy from Cascade Gold Akhal-Teke; We just got back from our weekend at the Klickitat Endurance ride in Glenwood WA. I rode Galen in the limited distance ride on Saturday, along with Monica on Danny (Magdan) and Shannon Mayfield on Octopelle. It was supposed to be a 25 mile ride, but it turned out to be just a tad longer (37 miles!) Happily, the ride management changed the completions to a 35 mile ride. I top tenned (10th place), although I didn’t ask my placing when I finished, so I didn’t show for best condition. Monica and Shannon completed the ride and we all enjoyed the lovely scenery, exciting water crossings, great volunteers and fun atmosphere. We stayed an extra day to help our friend Susan who rode on Sunday also and did lots of socializing. We had lots of questions about our horses and Tekes in general, so possibly we’ll see more and more Tekes on endurance rides in the future. |
