From Tatiana who loves her gelding Penta:
"Yesterday we had a very nice extreme trail ride on White road for 3 hours. so, today I just polished my equipment, Penta and boots. At the end of the clinic, the teacher said Penta is an outstanding horse, smart, careful about his rider and gorgeous... So, if everything is OK, on 21st of September we are going for 3 days and 2 nights clinic with Mark Bolender. Sometimes, I want to scream "People!! Be not silly!!! Never buy cheap , back yard breeding horses!!! Look, what Akhal-Teke can do!!!" Shelly and other boarders look at him with a great respect. HE IS AN AMAZING HORSE!!!"

They are also in the AERC yearbook. Jas Shearer-McMahon of Magic Valley Akhal-Tekes competed her purebred Akhal-Teke gelding, MV Patrikhan at the Shamrock Endurance ride in Colorado, July 2012. Here are photos from the ride:
Endurance News (magazine of the AERC) had a full page “Breed Awards” page and we’re number one on it (thanks to alphabetizing!)
http://www.aerc.org/Breed_Awards.aspx The ATAA has an extensive awards program this year combined with the "FOTATA" awards. By Cathy Leddy from Cascade Gold Akhal-Teke; We just got back from our weekend at the Klickitat Endurance ride in Glenwood WA. I rode Galen in the limited distance ride on Saturday, along with Monica on Danny (Magdan) and Shannon Mayfield on Octopelle. It was supposed to be a 25 mile ride, but it turned out to be just a tad longer (37 miles!) Happily, the ride management changed the completions to a 35 mile ride. I top tenned (10th place), although I didn’t ask my placing when I finished, so I didn’t show for best condition. Monica and Shannon completed the ride and we all enjoyed the lovely scenery, exciting water crossings, great volunteers and fun atmosphere. We stayed an extra day to help our friend Susan who rode on Sunday also and did lots of socializing. We had lots of questions about our horses and Tekes in general, so possibly we’ll see more and more Tekes on endurance rides in the future. From Francine Anderson riding the stallion Eramay:
The ride was at Boars Head Ranch in Dade City Florida. It was called the South Creek Foxhounds Hunter Pace and we were in the endurance class. It consisted of 2 loops of 8 miles with a minimum 10 minute break between. We completed each loop in about 1 hour. There were many jumps along the way which he jumped very willingly. I think Eramay really enjoyed it, I sure did! On June 9th Eramay will be at an AWS inspection. Will let you know what happens. Francine Scott Sears DMV and his Gelding Aeolus ( barn name Clyde) got a 7th place finish in the 50 miles endurance ride named Barebones, in Cornish NH.
Aeolus is a 2001 pure bred Akhal-Teke gelding out of Alp x Samsa. We wish them a great season! |
