If you want to volunteer, click here for the sign up We are still looking for donations, every little bit counts! Not only does the ATAA have a breed booth at WEG (World Equestrian Games) September 11-23rd , but we have a RIDDEN DEMO in front of thousands on September 12th at 5 pm in Ring 1. We expect to talk Teke to thousands upon thousands of people during WEG – make sure your sale horse, stallion and/or farm is listed there!
We will have a Sale/Stallion/Farm ad book there for people to look at. Get your ads in to Catrina Quantrell asap at [email protected] . If you have a Teke or Teke cross for sale, standing at stud or would like to advertise your farm, we want your ad! Ads should be PDFs and fit on a stand 8 x11 sheet of paper. Non-ATAA members, we ask you put a small donation towards the booth and demo, link right below. Amount up to you, every little bit helps! Deadline is August 31st! We are still looking for volunteers (online sign-up sheet) and donations. We have raised over $10,000 so far (THANK YOU TO ALL THE FANTASTIC, GENEROUS DONORS!), but we still need more. Our booth will be eye-catching and professional and we will be handing out thousands of postcards, brochures and DVDs. We have an onsite camper at the venue (not cheap, but cheaper than a hotel by far)! Everything costs money, so if you can help out, every little bit is appreciated. Thank you everyone and we’ll see you at WEG! Cathy, Catrina and the WEG Committee One month to go and we were just notified that our Tekes will have a demo at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC this September. No dates yet, except it will be during the first week.
This is amazing! Our horses will be in front of thousands upon thousands of spectators. We are still looking for donations, or if you and your Teke or Teke cross would like to be in the demo, let us know asap and I'll give you the protocol. Donations are HERE The ATAA is sponsoring the Akhal-Teke in-hand class again at Dressage at Devon, in Devon, PA. This will be our third year running the AT class. They do have some changes this year:
Class sponsorship provides the opportunity to showcase your breed at the largest and most prestigious open breed show in the world. Since the 1970’s Dressage at Devon has been the “go to” show for breeders and owners of sport horses of every breed. This year the show committee has made some significant changes to the schedule, creating a larger focus on the Individual Breed classes. To that end, the classes will now be held on Tuesday, September 25 in the Dixon Oval. This will allow time to reinstate the Parade of Breeds at the conclusion of the classes. During the Parade, the winners of each class are invited back into ring for special awards and the opportunity to have the announcer give a short description of the breed. In addition, new for 2018, there will be a wine and cheese reception for sponsors, owners and handlers to be held during the Parade of Breeds. Additional benefits are listed below:
So, we also have the opportunity to be in the Parade of Breeds, our class will be held Tuesday, September 25th. If you are planning on going, please let one of your BOD members know, so we can figure out prizes, etc! September-October will be busy for Tekes and Teke sporthorses: WEG, DAD and the AHA Distance Championships! We’re still looking for donation and volunteers, click here. Your ATAA BOD ATAA Booth at the 2018 World Equestrian Games!!!
To donate for the Akhal-Teke Breed Booth at the 2018 World Equestrian Games, you have two options: Donate without getting a tax deduction – this is directly to the ATAA, PayPal Buttons are here. If you do this, please realize these funds are NOT tax deductible. But they would be appreciated and used anyway! Or, you may send a check (no fees taken out that way) to: Cathy Leddy, Secretary, 21314 129th Ave SE, Snohomish, WA 98296. Make sure you make any checks out to 'ATAA' and put 'WEG' in the note section. Donate through the Equus Survival Trust. EST is a 501c3 and as such, donations are tax deductible within the scope of the IRS regulations. Donations by check or via the EST website PayPal "Surprise Us" option are acceptable for this ATAA fundraiser. All donors will receive a written receipt for tax purposes. Donations to EST for ATAA must be earmarked STRICTLY as follows: "Donation to ATAA". DONATION BUTTON IS HERE. Make sure you note that the funds are a donation to the ATAA please. UPDATE: July 18th , 2018 We have paid for the Akhal-Teke WEG Breed Booth and have paid for on-site camping and a deposit on a bunk bed camper for the duration. We will be contacting people that have pledged shortly, but you can certainly donate more! Thank you from the ATAA and EST. We’ll see you in September at WEG! As of July 18, 2018, we are at $7000+ in pledges and donations! Now, we need approximately $7000 more to pay for: -Housing (camper and campsite at the venue) for main volunteers. We plan to be able to offer non-glamourous beds to Booth volunteers (it is a bunkbed camper, not a hotel) for a modest donation per night. -Travel for Cathy and Betsy, who will be splitting the time there between them as main volunteers. -Car rental for the duration -possible purchase of a hanging monitor to show videos -rental of booth walls, etc (all we get with the booth is a table, two chairs and electricity) -shipping brochures/DVDs, etc to venue -misc (something always comes up, trust me). We estimate that we need another $7000 to get this done comfortably. We are using Equus Survival Trust (who is a 501(c)3 to our 501(c)5 for tax deductible donations), or you can donate directly to the ATAA without a tax deduction. EST takes a small % as a fee to make it legal. Any funds left over will go back into the ATAA savings account for other various promotions, programs, etc. Thank you to the wonderful AT community for your generosity! Watch the website and Facebook page for updates. The mission: To gather the funds, volunteers and materials to host a professional, artistic and informational booth on the Akhal-Teke horse breed, worldwide, at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC, USA. The people: Everyone, worldwide, that is interested in promoting the Akhal-Teke, is invited to participate; with ideas, information, funds, photos, DVDs, etc. While the ATAA is spearheading the effort, you do not need to be a member to participate. This booth is about the BREED, not any country, organization or farm. Everyone is welcome to participate! The opportunity: Over 500,000 people are expected to be at the Tryon Equestrian Center in person with daily attendance of 40,000-50,000 people. This is the major international championship event for eight core equestrian disciplines and we will be there representing the Akhal-Teke in a professional and artistically-produced booth - a golden opportunity to build awareness and expand the market for our fantastic breed. Booth Volunteers: Gretta Teets is coordinating booth volunteers for the duration of the WEG. A sign up page is HERE Please send this message to anyone that might be interested or any businesses that may be willing to donate. Thank you!! ATAA member Betsy Wandler, has been participating in AHA (Arabian Horse Association) conference calls as our liaison. Here are the last call's meeting minutes, with Betsy's participation highlighted. |
